Geek centric places don’t have to be boring or nerdy as pop-culture would have people believe, and no country proves this more than the U.S. Of course, London has its own geeky charm but when you are on a trip to the U.S. and want to let your hair down, there are a lot of places to visit. The following are some best geek-centric places in the U.S. for fun and excitement.

• San Diego – This place is known for its Comic-Con but San Diego has a lot to offer apart from that. When the evening arrives, you will see fans wearing their fandoms on their sleeves with colourful costumes. It is common to see sci-fi characters, villains, superheroes and zombies out and about on the streets of Seaport Village.

• Islands of Adventure – If you visit United States and skip Orlando then you would bring shame to the geek community all over the world. Universal Studios isn’t only about comic book geeks. If you are a Harry Potter fan (really, who isn’t?), you can have enormous fun on the Harry Potter ride. If superheroes are more your thing, you might just spot some of them when you take a walk in the park at this place. The Incredible Hulk roller coaster is another delightful ride to be a part of.

• San Francisco – Geeks who love technology and sci-fi would definitely have a lot of fun in San Francisco. You should visit Lucasfilm HQ and see the Yoda fountain. If you are a Star Wars lover and know how to talk your way around security, you might just be able to catch life size light sabers, Boba Fett and Darth Vader in the lobby. Silicon Valley is nearby as well and if you are interested, there are tours of the place that you could enjoy.

• New York – For some reason, NY is always omitted from geek-pick lists but the NY comic-con is pretty fun as well. Apart from that, you could spend your time recognizing locations from various movies. Top events include NYC Robotics Competition, Brooklyn Book Festival, Secret Science Club, Internet Week NY, World Maker Faire NY, PEN World Voices and World Science Fest.

There are a lot of great museums in Washington DC and Smithsonian is one that you shouldn’t miss at any cost. You can also visit Kennedy Space Centre if you want some out-of-the-box geek stuff to see in the U.S. You can find more Geek-centric places in the US when you check out Expedia.
